Barbara has been
active in the arts since high school. She began art classes in
1970 and began showing and selling her paintings soon after. Her
interest in Teddy Bears grew from her interest in antique doll
collecting. She wanted to add a teddy bear as an accessory to a
special doll but the price was too great. She felt that she could
make a bear that would serve her purposes. Her intention has
become another avenue of expression for her artistic talents and
the basis of an extensive collection of stuffed animals.
One example of Barbara expressing her many talents talents is on the cover for the winter 1998 issue of Teddy Today. Her profile is located in the following spring 1999 issue.
Since her husband's retirement Barbara has given up her much loved Queen Anne Victorian home for a place in the country. This rural setting is the heart of her inspiration for many paintings. A few of her paintings are featured here at the New Masters Gallery.
